Mom, Pat, and Hurricane Gustov
A quick post to let everyone know that Mom and Pat called this morning. They are flying out of Grand Cayman tonight at 10pm headed for Miami. They will be back in Spokane tomorrow after first flying to Chicago. It looks like there is a good chance Grand Cayman will get a direct hit from Gustov, which is projected to increase in power to a Category 1 or 2 hurricane by the time it hits on Friday night. The buildings were getting boarded up this morning, and all of the guests were being told that power was going to be cut tomorrow morning and they all needed to go to high ground for shelter. They were lucky enough to catch one of the flights off the island. I'm very glad they'll be back home by the time it gets there.

Thanks Ed for posting a blog so all family and friends are updated on our hurricane vacation. We had a great time on the islands before all this started. Beautiful island and resort. Great snorkel fun in the 85 degree waters. Pat was looking forward to scuba diving but that was cancelled due to the storm coming. After our condo and ocean view was boarded up,island all shut down and boarded, beach chairs and grass huts taken down, and all the locals told us to "get out" as water and power to be shut down, we decided it was not going to be fun to stay. We did get on one of the last plans and did an all night (15 hour) airplane/airports travel adventure. We are exhausted but did get alot of sleep once we got home. Glad to be back in Spokane. We did hear the island has lifted the curfew and it was a catagory 2 when it hit. Ivan was a catagory 4 and ruined the island. We are thankful the resort is ok and all the great people of the island starting to get back to normal. Our next trip back to the condo will be a winter trip!!!!Pat and Lynn
Guy and Krista were at the lake with us when your mom and pat were on their way home. KJ was glued to the TV watching the new about the hurricane. So Glad everyone made it home safe. Kim
